  2. Extra food/water (Soups, stews, hot cocoa)
  3. Sleeping bags
  4. Warm socks/long John underwear/slippers Hats/mittens
  5. Books/board games
  6. Download books/podcasts/movies/audio books
  7. Cash
  8. Fill gas in cars (Extreme Situation #1)
  9. Cover outdoor water hose bibs
  10. Crawlspace vent covers
  11. Gas lighter/matches
  12. Candles
  13. Flashlights/Headlamps
  14. Extra batteries
  15. Hand crank radio
  16. Carbon monoxide detector (battery only)
  17. First aid kit
  18. Extra fireplace wood in the house
  19. Block drafts (towels/blankets under door jams, window coverings)
  20. Snow shovel
  21. Tent (Extreme Situation #2)
  22. Water shut off location/wrench or pliers
  23. Water filter for camping
  24. Freeze tupperware with water to put in fridge
  25. Gas generator (propane or natural gas)
  26. Wood stove (certified, use with CO detector)
  27. Hand warmers for camping
  28. Propane stove (if you don’t have a gas stove at home)
  29. Manually light gas stove
  30. Turn on gas fireplace (Valve/Pilot light, hold for 1 minute, Switch it to On)
  31. Stop using bathrooms connected to sewage ejector pump (put signs up), if you have one
  32. Keep fridge doors closed (4-6 hours in fridge, 24-48 hours in freezer)
  33. Put food in box/cooler to leave outside
  34. Cook meals before getting dark
  35. Air out when using other heat sources
  36. Drip water in all sink and showers (except lower level w/ejector pump, if you have one)
  37. Stay active, light exercise for blood circulation (not to sweat)
  38. Don’t drive around
  39. Don’t walk near trees/downed wires
  40. Don’t burn indoors (fire pit, gas generator)
  41. Don’t run car in the garage
